Upper Mustang Trek

Upper Mustang trek is in the northern part of Nepal in mustang district. which is very rich in culture, nature and in history. Mustang carried its history from 8th century, it’s also known as hidden kingdom of Nepal. The “Lo Ghyekar Gompa”/ Gar Gumba is the oldest monastery of Nepal. This region has been open for tourist legally since 1992 AD. This place is also famous for Royal Kingdom although there is no kingdom these days, those Royal Palaces are still there. geographically this place is a desert, mountains from desert is an extra ordinary view from this place.

The settlement carries Tibetan culture. famous festivals people celebrate here are, Loshar, Tiji, saka lugka, Duk Chu and Donpa etc. Another attraction of this trek is the famous natural caves, Choser cave, which has its natural 108 rooms. The border of Tibet is very near. so, we can easily visit the border. people of this area are historically derived from Tibet, they are very rich in culture many cultural activities, religious monuments could be easily found anywhere. some of the monuments are from very ancient time which have very attractive architecture. local people still adapting the agricultural and animal rearing activities for survival.

After your arrival in Tribhuvan international airport Kathmandu, you will take you to hotel by our team. Next day you will be visiting Kathmandu city, you will have a tour of world heritage site of Kathmandu. And from next day you will be moving to your trekking destination.

Day 01: Kathmandu to Pokhara via tourist bus (200 km/ 6 to 7 hour of drive). Airplane (30 minute).

Day 02:  Pokhara to Kagbeni(2810m) via Jomsom (2720m) by airplane( 25m) trekking starts from Jomsom, 4 to 5 hours of work up to Kagbeni. The enormous view of Mt. Annapurna and Mt. Daulagiri could be enjoyed if the weather is clear.

Day 03: Kagbeni to Chele(3050m) 5 to 6 hours of walk. from kagbeni we inter in Restricted area of upper mustang where only special permit holder could go.

Day 04: Chele to Ghiling(3570m) 6 to 7 hours of walk. This day would be a bit long day because we would be visiting a natural cave which is called (chungsi cave).

Day 05: Ghiling to Dhakmar(3820m) 5 to 6 hour.  we would be passing through Gami village, which have traditional houses, monuments and various religious places.

Day 06 : Dhakmar to Lomanthang ( 3810m) 6 to 7 hours of walk. we would be climbing through Muila (4170m) after that the historical monastery the Gar Gumba could be visit. Marangla is the high pass of this day which is (4230m) high, crossing this pass, marmots could be found.

Day 07: Lomanthang to Chosar(4000m) 4 to 5 hours of up down by horse riding, we would be visiting choser, where  famous natural caves and monasteries could be visit. and in the same day we would be back to Lomanthang again.

Day 08: Lomanthang to Yara(3650m) descend down up to dhi gaun then by the side of dhi khola we will be going to Yara village(5 to 6 hours)

Day 09: visit luri gumba( ) which is one of the oldest monastery of Nyingma sect of Buddhism. 4 to 5 hours and we will back to Yara in the same day.

Day 10: Yara to Tangge(3249m) 6 ot 7 hours.

Day 11: Tangge to Tetang ( 3040m) pa Bangyang(4450m) is the highest pass of this whole trek, this is also the longest day of the entire trek. 9 to 10 hours of walk.

Day 12: Tetang to muktinath(3800m) 5 to 6 hours of walk . Muktinath is one of the most popular pilgrimage site of Nepal, both Hindu and Buddhist visit this place. we could have a quick look around in the evening.

Day 13: Muktinath to Jomsom. 5 to 6 hours of walk through Lupra village, where you can visit a ancient Bonpo monastery.

Day 14: Jomsom to Pokhara by flight.

Day 15: one day Pokhara city tour

Day 16: back to Kathmandu
